UFO Race (Short Film) By Andrea Ricca (Italy) Movie Review By William Pauley III We've all seen those films where an alien spaceship lands on Earth, humans try to capture them, Hell ensues, et cetra, et cetra. But what if they were just trying to have a little fun? That is the idea that filmmaker Andrea Ricca runs with in his short film (very short - 2 mins) called, "UFO Race". As you may have already guessed, the aliens in this film love to race and are interested in finding a little competition... which they soon find. For a small budget short film, it is surprisingly very well crafted, with great camera angles and impressive special effects all crafted by Ricca himself. Actually, the film, if shortened by half, could make for a really clever and fun car commercial. I would also recommend Ricca's short "The Guardian", about an Indiana Jones-type who finds himself dealing with a ghoulish protector of an ancient artifact. All good fun. |
